University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Upon finishing his education, Green accepted
the position of Department Head of Printmaking at the Instituto Allende in San Miguel de
Allende, Mexico.
In 1975, Green moved to New York City and began a career as a stone lithographer. As a
stone printer he worked with professional artists such as Norman Rockwell. in 1984,
Green moved to Greene County to paint landscapes, where he gave on-site painting
courses at Columbia Greene Community College and worked with the Friends of Olana
for over 10 years teaching on-site painting. In 1999 and 2000, Green led painting
workshops at Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. Green has taught Vocational Commercial
Arts at Greene Correctional Facility in Coxsackie, N.Y. for the past 21 years.
Green has been drawn to the Hudson River Valley to paint because of its "type" of light,
its history of landscape painting and the ever-changing atmosphere experienced when
observing on-site. His paintings reflect place and a romantic quality that is meditative.
Observing nature, recording atmospheric conditions and understanding the artist'
relationship with nature continues to intrigue him. Green's paintings have been exhibited
widely on the east coast and are in many public and private collections. He has been
chronicled in American Artist Magazine and appears in Who's Who in America, Who's
Who in the World and Who's Who in Education.
